Ed Hunter: A matter of empathy

It’s been a while since I shared an email chain.

This was probably the best one.

But since everything happened this year, I thought I might turn over a new leaf.

I figured there’d be far fewer people getting angry on email.

And because of that I’d get less opportunity to go on the wind up.

I was wrong.

Subject: TERRIBLE recruitment process

I’ve decided to write this letter of complaint after being on the receiving end of one of the WORST recruitment processes I’ve ever endured.

Over the course of the last few months, I’ve been humiliated, embarassed, made to jump through hoops that were totally irrelevant to the matter at hand, and am now SEVERELY out of pocket from a PRINCE II certification that’s totally redundant.

You companies are all the same. It’s a matter of EMPATHY!!! and you have none.

I’d like a formal apology with regards to this or shall be taking my grievances public.

Yours,

Richard ___________ MsC PRINCEII

Hi Richard,

I think there may be a misunderstanding here.

From our records it seems you applied to a role for a Java Developer in January of this year.

Sam spoke to you and it was mutually decided, since you’d not worked with Java, it wasn’t the right role.

I can’t see details of any further communication with you on any of our servers. Could you send over anything related?

Thanks,

Ed

I INTERVIEWED for a PM role through you.

I have FULL NOTES of my interview with Janet ________ on at __________ Ltd in Greater Manchester on March 26th.

I spoke with Janet at length and was told I’d be contacted with feedback. She did say I’d need a PRINCE II qualification to be considered, but I now have that.

Since then I’ve heard NOTHING. Despite countless emails and phone calls.

Hi Richard,

I’m really sorry I’m struggling to find any information on this at all. It doesn’t look as though we’ve ever done business with that client.

Do you have anything from us on email like an interview confirmation?

We have a Dani here, but we’ve never employed someone called Demi.

I think this may be a mistake Richard.

Please send through the original email so we can check.

Haha not before I do. And why do you keep linking in my entire business you nutter.

Rich, I’ve tried really hard to be kind here. This wasn’t us mate. This was another business. We’ve literally never hired anyone by the name of Demi.
