A traded energy and commodity search business, Commodity Appointments were one of the first firms to service this market, way back in the late 70's. Their CEO is a LinkedIn influencer and the most well known headhunter in the industry. They're based in the leafy town of Petersfield on the Hampshire/Sussex border, but with direct train links to London. If your next career step is into search, look no further than these guys...
Thought leader in talent analytics - our CEO had 1.7m views on his articles and videos in 2019. We are close advisers to leaders across the industries we serve. We collaborate with a tight small client base and we have an impact. Oh, and the business? A global professional search firm operating within the commodity, energy and natural resources sectors. Been around for ages (1977) and during the last 20 years accountable for many of the significant appointments across the sectors, headline-grabbing team moves and impressive start ups.

If you prefer the comfort of your own vehicle rather than relying on public transport, there's nothing worse than spending your morning searching for a parking space. Not a problem, we have onsite parking. One less stress to worry about!
Want to go travelling? Take the school holidays to be with the children? Do some further studies and learn for an exam? We encourage a life outside work and can provide you with a top-up of unpaid leave besides your paid holiday to fulfil the things you want to do. All you have to do is tell us all about it when you come back!
For the most part, we work on a payment schedule that sees a part of our fees paid upfront. Our partner clients trust in us to find the talent that is a cultural fit for their businesses, businesses that we understand deeply after years of helping them build and grow.

"Couldn’t have found a nicer team to work alongside during my placement year as part of my university course. The small yet experienced and professional team made me feel welcome from day one and I had a varied and challenging experience as an intern. Located in rural Hampshire, but a unique and modern office."

"I worked at Commodity Appointments full-time for more than 5 years Pros Freedom to explore a wide range of avenues/clients No ridiculous mind-numbing large-agency KPIs Good company track-record (internationally) to fall back on during origination. Good solid client base. Well coded large international database. Up-to-date technology/systems. Strong marketing/branding presence. Cons If you can't motivate yourself and blindly rely on hitting corporate KPI's to justify your existence then this is not the place for you."
“Empathy and humility: if I had to pick two qualities that I think would make someone a success at Commodity, these would be the ones. People are entrusting us to accompany them on one of the biggest decisions they are going to make in their lives – a job change, a career change, maybe a country change, too. We have to live up to that trust, every single day.”
Vanda Buck, AVP Europe at LME week
The nature of our market is often there's only a handful of candidates who can do the job we're hunting for. Executive Search ‘the Commodity way’ is a people business, not a numbers game. You won't be hounded to get your phone times up or badgered to get 50 CVs out a day.
Our end of year team meeting, chocolate included
Flexibility goes both ways – you’ll want to speak to candidates out of hours sometimes, and sometimes you may need to get the car in for an MOT or watch your son’s assembly. It’s a give and take that works at Commodity.
Our offices are located in a beautiful market town, with Ofsted outstanding rated schools and a fast train into Waterloo (1 hour 10) for meetings or visits to the theatre. While others do the daily commute, you can enjoy a 10 minute walk to work in the morning, enjoy lunch at one of the many cafes/restaurants in the town and then run it off afterwards in the Southdowns National Park of which Petersfield forms a part.
From team breakfasts to shared lunches and afterwork cocktails, from birthday cakes to pizza delivery or protein shakes. The tastes may be diverse, but the Commodity family takes any opportunity to come together.

Our offices wouldn’t look out of place in the best parts of London, so we like to come to work looking the part too!
Search is about establishing rapport and communication is a huge part of that. We’re a multi-cultural bunch with speakers of Italian, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Danish, Bulgarian, Mandarin, oh and English on the team.
