    UK Black History Month!

This week we are celebrating and shining a spotlight on Black Britons who were/are activists and through their work have made remarkable contributions to the Black community.

Lavinya Stennett is the Founder and CEO of The Black Curriculum, a social enterprise that provides resources, teacher training, and workshops covering Black art and music for schools. Their material offers an engaging way for Black British history to be taught — for example, exploring how reggae and calypso music influenced the UK music scene in the 1970s.

Darcus Howe was a British broadcaster, writer and racial justice campaigner. He was one of the outstanding civil rights campaigners in modern Britain. He was a major activist in the British Black Power movement, which opposed police harassment and brutality against the London Black community.

Akala is a British rapper, journalist, author, activist and poet. He is one of the leading and most respected activists in the UK's Black Lives Matter movement. Akala has been speaking out about race in the UK for years — most recently in a mini-explainer series on his YouTube channel.

Claudia Jones was a Trinidad and Tobago-born journalist and activist. She founded Britain's first major Black newspaper, the West Indian Gazette, in 1958 and played a central role in founding the Notting Hill Carnival, the second-largest annual carnival in the world. Claudia wanted to relieve tensions after riots broke out in 1958 in Notting Hill. She put on a carnival at St Pancras Town Hall to celebrate Caribbean culture, which was broadcast by the BBC.

These activists’ work has and continues to play a major role in promoting Black Pride.

#UKBlackHistoryMonth #ProudToBe #BlackHistory #BlackBritons #Activism #BlackLivesMatterOur European and US MC Club's got together recently for a couple of memorable nights!

LHi's MC Club members are those in the group that have billed over a million pounds or done a hundred deals since joining LHi. On entry to the club, you receive a luxury item then get invited to these exclusive nights going forward.

Our Group Managing Director, Michael Bott said "It was an absolute privilege to host both MC nights with the best of the best in the LHi Global business. A spectacular night had on both sides of the Atlantic, with two memorable evenings with great people. Very excited to welcome the new members into the exclusive LHi Club in the coming months. Now time to recover!"

#Fundraising #Donate #MLF #Charity #MakingADifferenceFundraising time!

Our Bristol office will be hiking up Pen Y Fan, in the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales on Monday, to raise funds for @foodcyclebristol.

Food Cycle is a national charity that uses surplus food, volunteers, and unused cooking space to develop communities. They prepare excellent three-course meals for vulnerable people across the UK and are united by the simple principle that food waste and hunger should never coexist.

To help us raise more funds for this great charity, donate what you can on our fundraising page, link in our bio.

Our very own Senior Marketing Executive, Lewis Cornwall will be taking over our Instagram for the day to give you live updates, make sure you check out our stories.

#MakingADifference #Fundraising #Charity #BristolLast week we celebrated six years at LHi for @lawrenceharveyrecruitment's Associate Director, George Davies.

Lawrence Harvey Director, Jamie Wilkins said, "I’m delighted to congratulate George Davies on his sixth anniversary within the group.

Six years, five promotions, success, failure, and a huge amount of fun!

George optimises the groups 'Younger You' philosophy in all that he does for the business and those around him. A true market expert and currently performing at the top of his game.

Not quite sure where the time has gone, feels like five minutes ago when I met you for the first time.

Can't wait to see where you go from here mate. Thank you for everything you’ve done and continue to do."

#WeAreHiring #London #GraduateOpportunitiesIt's UK Black History Month and in celebration, we are shining a spotlight on Black Britons who have contributed to British sports.

Lennox Lewis is a former professional boxer who competed from 1989 to 2003. He is a three-time World Heavyweight Champion, a two-time Lineal Champion, and remains the last Heavyweight to hold the Undisputed Championship.

Maggie Alphonsi is a former rugby union player who played as a flanker for Saracens W.R.F.C. and England before retiring in 2014. She was a key member of the England side that dominated the Six Nations with seven straight titles, six of them Grand Slams between 2006 and 2012 and won the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014.

Kare Adenegan is a wheelchair athlete specialising in sprint distances in the T34 classification. She was classified as a disability athlete in 2013. Competing for Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Paralympics, at the age of 15, she won a Silver and two Bronze medals.

Mo Farah is a Somali-born British long-distance runner and the most successful British track athlete in modern Olympic Games history. He is the 2012 and 2016 Olympic Gold medallist in both the 5000m and 10,000m.

True sports legends!

#UKBlackHistoryMonth #ProudToBe #BlackHistory #Sports #BlackBritonsWe're extremely proud to finally announce that Stephen Earl will be heading up our new Berlin office.

Steve joined us as an Associate Consultant just over five years ago and has consistently been a top performer within the group. In his more recent years, he has not only kept amongst the top performers in the group but has become a great manager within our London office and in true LHi 'Younger You' style has helped numerous careers within his team take off.

It goes without saying that Steve will be missed in London but we can't wait to see what you do in Berlin, Good Luck!
